Steve Wadsworth joins FishBowl as Digital Advisor

FishBowl Worldwide Media today announced that former President of Disney Interactive Media, Steve Wadsworth, has become a digital advisor to the company.  Fishbowl is a next generation studio creating entertainment content for distribution across multiple platforms that was founded by Chairman Vin Di Bona and President and CEO Bruce Gersh.  FishBowl will leverage Wadsworth’s considerable expertise to develop and identify digital media opportunities.

“As one of the most innovative thinkers in digital, Steve’s experience will be an asset as FishBowl continues to grow. His perspective on the changing digital landscape and his relationships with leading technology companies will help fuel our ongoing digital expansion,” said Gersh.

Di Bona added. “Steve is a great fit for our highly collaborative environment plus he understands how technology can be used to drive creativity because of his many years of digital leadership at one of the world’s leading media companies.”

Wadsworth brings with him over 15 years of Internet and digital media experience, including 11 years spearheading the development of Disney’s Internet and digital media products and services, including ecommerce, online video, interactive games and virtual worlds, across the full range of digital devices, from broadband to mobile. He joined the Walt Disney Company in 1993 and in 1995 was one of the founders of Disney’s Internet business, Disney Online.  In 1999 he was appointed president of the Walt Disney Internet Group, where he led a restructuring of the business and its subsequent expansion into broadband and mobile.  Prior to becoming president of Disney’s Internet operations, Wadsworth served in various capacities within the Disney organization—business development, technology operations, strategic planning and finance.  Prior to joining Disney, he was a principal for the Windsor Park Group in Los Angeles, where he provided strategic, operational and financial management consulting services to a variety of companies.

“FishBowl is an exciting company to work with because they have the creative talent and development skills to produce compelling entertainment for all platforms as well as a fantastic library of video content, and they are willing to break old models and create new opportunities,” said Wadsworth.  “Bruce and Vin aren’t interested in replicating what other companies are doing. They want to break new ground.”

Already very active in digital media, FishBowl’s endeavors include original production for the web, including development of animated and reality web series. The company has partnered with YouTube stars including Phil DeFranco and Toby Turner to create series like the YouTube hit, CuteWinFail, which is currently in the YouTube Comedy Channel Top 20 with over 25 million video views. In addition, FishBowl manages the world’s largest curated library of cleared user-generated content and also offers a white-label clearance management service used by advertisers and major brands.

“Today’s consumers expect a personally engaging entertainment experience,” says Gersh. “They demand content that can be discussed, debated and critiqued across platforms. FishBowl will create content for each platform that satisfies brands and their consumers.”
